Farmington, UT – As of May 20, the Big Sky Conference has announced their 2026 Hall of Fame class.
Headlining the class is former Montana State University quarterback and assistant head coach, and Idaho Vandals head coach Dennis Erickson. As quarterback for the Bobcats between 1966-1968 Erickson led MSU to three-straight Big Sky Conference titles. In 1967 and 1968 he was named First Team All-Big Sky, and in 1968 Erickson was named an All-American Honorable Mention.
In 1969 Erickson began his coaching career as an assistant for the Bobcats. In 1982 he was named the head coach of the Idaho Vandals. As a head coach with Idaho Erickson made two Big Sky title games and two playoff appearances. Dennis Erickson eventually moved on and became the head coach at Multiple Division I programs including Wyoming, Washington State, Oregon State, Arizona State, and Miami where he won two national Championships in 1989 and 1991.
Erickson left college for the NFL in 1995 and was named head coach for the Seahawks where he stayed until 1998. In 2003 the San Francisco 49ers hired Erickson for one season.
