Farmington, UT – As of May 20, the Big Sky Conference has announced their 2026 Hall of Fame class.
The 2026 Hall of Fame inductee for the University of Montana Grizzlies is Michael Ray Richardson. In his time as Grizzley between 1974 and 1978 Richardson became UM’s first ever three-time All-Big Sky First Team selection. As a 6’5″ guard Richardson averaged 24.2 points per game which led him to score the most points in a single season in program history.
After averaging just under 19 points a game Micheal turned himself into the fourth overall pick in the 1978 NBA draft, which stands as the highest selection ever by a Big Sky basketball player into the NBA. Richardson had an eight-year career in the NBA. He had stints playing for three teams in the Knicks, Warriors and Nets. Richardson was named to four All-Star teams, two defensive First Teams and the 1985 comeback player of the year.
