3 Nashua Residents Killed in Fatal Crash Saturday

VALLEY COUNTY, Mont. (NMB) – The Valley County Sheriff’s Office reports that three Nashua residents were killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US 2 and Montana 117 on Saturday morning.

The victims have been identified as Robert Heikens, 93, and Helen Heikens, 87 and Lorena Mast, 55. There were nine people involved in the crash, six of them were children. One of the children was listed as being in critical condition, and all the children were transported to the local emergency department for further evaluation.

The accident occurred at 10:45 AM. Two adults were in an eastbound vehicle and one adult and six children were in the vehicle entering the intersection from MT 117. US 2 was shut down for a short period of time due to the crash.

The Montana Highway Patrol is continuing their investigation of the accident scene.

Valley County Sheriff Tom Boyer says he would like to personally thank the first responders, officers, and community for their life saving efforts, and for their continuing efforts to support the children that were affected.
