HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Montana State University-Northern held their Fall Career Fair on Monday in the Armory Gym and a record number of employers attended this year. Career Center Director Mary Heller says this was their largest fall fair yet with 45 employers. She says most were interested in diesel, automotive and ag mechanics students.
“We also broke a record with our interviews. We had 16 employers stay after the fair and out of those 16, 94 of our students interviewed with those employers.”
Heller says she’s talked with many employers in the trades industries that are desperate for young workers.
“I think the big picture here is the desperation of the trades industry. You know, it’s a problem nationwide and Northern is getting hit hard with the folks in the trades industry and, in particular, the diesel industry.”
Heller says their Spring Career Fair will be held on Thursday, February 13th and registration will open in mid-December.
