HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – This week Montana Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) highlighted accessible COVID-19 resources for businesses effected by the pandemic and held an online Q & A.

At the Q & A Wednesday, May 27 Montana Governor’s Office of Economic Development’s Chief Business Development Officer Ken Fichtler said the tools provided by DLI are going to be increasingly important as Montana businesses enter Phase Two.

“Business owners need to remember that it’s their responsibility to ensure the health and safety of both their customers and their employees. As we move into Phase Two it’s going to become even more vital as we welcome visitors into the state – we really need businesses to continue to take seriously the precautionary measures that we put into place.”

Some of the resources highlighted for Montana businesses were unemployment assistance, workforce development, employee recruitment, employee training and workplace health and safety.

Fichtler said businesses should utilize these tools and continue to stay the course by implementing COVID-19 prevention measures.

“Prevention measures…things like installing Plexiglas barriers between employees and customers, making sure that you’re requiring masks whenever possible, making sure that you’ve got plenty of sanitation opportunities for high-touch surfaces, making sure that you’ve got hand sanitizer available – things like that.”
