HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – After working for 40 years as a special education teacher and school psychologist for Havre Public Schools before retiring, Lorraine Larson says her knowledge of the District makes her a worthy Trustee.
“Being a special education teacher, I was very familiar with the rules and regs. And I worked with a number of students throughout the District at different levels. Being a school psychologist, I needed to work closely with a team, communicate with the administrators, the teachers, and the special education staff. That was very important. I got along very well with the staff and students, and I just feel that I can continue to provide that experience and knowledge.”
Larson says her top priorities include ensuring student safety and and quality of education.
“Showing our support for the teachers and administrators is another important fact. And the students, our decisions will help in determining the progress they make and continued progress, is also a very important position I hold.”
Larson is a member of PEO Chapter V, which provides scholarships for high school girls and young women in college. She is also a member of the Bullhook Blossoms Garden Club and belongs to the altar society of St. Jude’s Catholic Church.
Larson has eight grandchildren, two of which she helped with assignments last spring when in-person learning was canceled.
Larson is competing against four other candidates for two open three-year terms on the School Board. The election is set for Tuesday, May 4th.
Larson has been serving on the Board since February after being appointed to fill the Trustee position that Ed Hill vacated.
