HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Commission convened at the Courthouse on Thursday morning for their regular weekly business meeting.
The Commission approved numerous items by unanimous vote:
- The advertisement of a part time seasonal deputy warden for Beaver Creek Park, at the request of Superintendent Chad Edgar. This person would work for the park during the busy season
- The purchase and installation of three extra cameras at the Hill County Detention Center for a total cost of about $5,800. This is part of the grant-funded project to improve security at the Detention Center, and the Commission believes that leftover funds from the grant should be able to cover this addition to the project. The request for additional cameras came from Sheriff Jamie Ross, who said there are several spots in the Center that the cameras that are currently being installed cannot spot.
- The annual Mount Royal right-of-way lease that allows those that use the communication site to drive through a private road with permission, as long as they pay a small fee
- A contract with Senior Medicare Patrol out of Missoula to strengthen the fight against healthcare fraud by teaching seniors how to spot scams. This Memorandum of Understanding calls for the contract to notexceed $3,300. This contract runs through May 2022.
- Approval of the annual contract with the Rocky Boy Reservation and Hill County Council on Aging. This provides meals to elders on the Reservation. The renewal runs through June 2022 and will not exceed around $37,000 a year
- The re-appointment of Becky Miller to the Central Montana Board of Directors was announced
- Approval of a bid for $3,600 for a multi-purpose audi-visual cart for the Courthouse. This mobile cart will be housed in the Timmons Room and will feature a Smart TV and PC, and will be used for trainings and meetings. It can be moved as necessary, and the County is hoping that it can be funded through ARPA dollars
Prior to the meeting, the Commission held a bid unsealing for the project to crush and stockpile 20,000 tons of gravel in western Hill County. The only company to bid was James Carney Construction from Malta. Their contract offer calls for a charge of $3.85 per ton of gravel. The Commission voted 3-0 to take the bid under advisement and review.
