DEER LODGE Mont. (NMB) – The Department of Corrections has announced that an inmate of the Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge died in an accident while working at the prison ranch.
55-year-old Donald Welborn, Jr. died at the scene after being pinned underneath an excavator he was operating on Wednesday.
Welborn was in the middle of serving a sentence for felony vehicular homicide while under the influence of meth. He pled guilty back in 2016 after striking and killing a pedestrian along I-15 near Dillon in October 2015.
