Chronic Wasting Disease Priority Surveillance Areas Set

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks has designated specific hunting districts in northcentral Montana as Priority Surveillance Areas for Chronic Wasting Disease.

Surveillance area west of Havre include hunting districts 400, 401, 403, 404, 405, 406, 441, 447, and 471.

Surveillance areas east of Havre include hunting districts 410, 620, 621, 622, 631, 632, and 700.

In these districts, FWP is making a concerted effort to gather more samples, and hunters are asked to voluntarily submit a sample from their animal.

Report sick-looking deer, elk or moose. If you shoot an animal that looks diseased or sick, report it immediately to your local FWP office and avoid handling it.
