HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – According to the state’s dashboard, Montana reported 1,249 new COVID-19 cases in their Tuesday update, the most in a single day since last November.
All but six counties reported at least one new case of the virus, and active COVID-related hospitalizations is at 362, the highest that number has been in months.
In the wake of the surge, Governor Greg Gianforte has announced that 10 Montana National Guardsmen have volunteered to assist the Billings Clinic in its COVID-19 response.
The Billings Clinic CEO says that they are in the midst of “immense capacity and staffing challenges,” due to the surge, and that these volunteers will provide critical support.
In addition, seven Montana National Guard soldiers will assist the state lab with its COVID-19 response, beginning this Wednesday.
