Big Sandy, Harlem to Host Festivals this Weekend

BIG SANDY, Mont. (NMB) – Two towns on the Hi-Line are getting ready to host one-day festivals this weekend.

In Big Sandy on Saturday from 10 AM-10 PM, there will be a Harvest Festival on the lawn of St. Mary’s Church. There will be a beer garden, along with activities including games, a bouncy house, bingo, cornhole tournament, street dance with music from the Wortman Sisters, a beer garden.

Event committee member Jessica Ophus says the hope is for this event to bring people together.

“Between the good and the bad of what the last year, year-and-a-half has brought from COVID and the drought and the grasshoppers – we’re excited to bring the community together and remind everyone that good, bad or otherwise, we always have each other.”

This will serve as a fundraiser for a youth group planning a pilgrimage to Mexico in the spring of 2022.

“It’s little bit shorter than the trip (to Europe) that they originally planned, but is a pilgrimage just the same,” Ophus says. “They’ll get to go to Our Lady of Guadelupe Down their, so it will still be quite an experience for them and their families.

In Harlem on Sunday at 4 PM in the City park, there will be a Fall Festival. This will feature a potluck and live music and is meant to honor local first responders.

“We are happy to be finally able to be getting to do an event,” said organizer Kayla Hudon. “We appreciate everything that our volunteer services do for our community and their work does not go unnoticed. Our community would like to thank them.”
