Doctor Killed in Helena Crash

HELENA, Mont. (NMB) – The Independent Record reports that the pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle in Helena in Tuesday has been identified.

Dr. Christopher Muenzen, 66, died of multiple blunt force injuries. The manner of death has been deemed accidental.

Muenzen is from New Jersey but had been working as a contract physician with the VA in Helena.

The incident occurred at around 5:15 PM at the intersection of Rodney Street and 5th Avenue.

Helena Police say the incident remains under investigation, and drugs or alcohol are not suspected factors. Authorities say a 36-year-old male driver was backing up his Silverado and did not see Muenzen walking behind the vehicle.
