The Montana Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at 5:15 AM at mile marker 50 of US 212 near Lame Deer, when an eastbound Ford Econoline overcorrected to the left after drifting to the right. The vehicle went off the north side of the highway into the ditch where it overturned and came to rest on its wheels.

The driver, a 22-year-old woman from Mukilteo, Washington, was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both occupants were wearing a seatbelt.

The road was dry at the time of the crash, and alcohol, drugs or excessive speed are all not suspected factors.
