CHINOOK, Mont. (NMB) – A pair of construction projects on US Highway 2 between Havre and Fort Belknap have concluded.
The culvert replacement project between Chinook and Harlem included the repairing or replacement of over 20 deteriorating culverts. A press release says this will “build a strong foundation for the complete reconstruction of the corridor planned within the next five years. Future projects will be more time- and cost-efficient, as they will not need to repair or replace culverts during construction.”
The other completed project is the Lohman E/W project between Havre and Chinook. This project completely reconstructed over 10 miles of US 2, adjusted the horizontal and vertical alignment to straighten and flatten the roadway, repaved, painted, installed new signage and culverts, and replaced bridges.
These projects are part of the complete reconstruction of US 2 from the border of Hill and Blaine Counties to Fort Belknap.
Future projects include:
- Chinook E: Six miles of roadway reconstruction with 10 bridges. Construction beyond 2024
- Zurich E/W: Seven miles of roadway reconstruction with four bridges. Construction beyond 2024
- E of Zurich to Harlem: Seven miles of roadway reconstruction. Construction beyond 2021.
