FORT BELKNAP, Mont. (NMB) – The Fort Belknap Election Committee says that results from Tuesday’s Primary Election for the Community Council will be delayed due to slowdowns with the US Postal Service.
The Election Committee says that the mail slowdown has had a significant impact on eligible voters that reside off the Reservation.
People can no longer request ballots, but anyone that has already requested a ballot can mail it in once they receive it and fill it out.
The deadline for ballots to reach the elections office is now 5 PM on Thursday, October 14th. Election results are expected to be released at 8 PM that evening.
The top two candidates in each race will advance to the general election, which is scheduled for November 2nd.
