MISSOULA, Mont. (NMB) – The Missoula City-County Health Department has announced that the Omicron variant has been detected in a County resident.
The variant was confirmed through sequencing on Tuesday. It is unknown if the infected individual contacted the variant through travel or community spread. The case investigation is ongoing.
This comes after an announcement on Monday from the state health department that two residents of Gallatin County who recently traveled to South Africa were infected with the Omicron variant.
DPHHS Director Adam Meier says that their Department continues to urge all eligible Montanans to get the COVID vaccine and booster and take other precautions to prevent the spread of the virus.
