BROWNING, Mont. (NMB) – The Great Falls Tribune reports the the Blackfeet Tribal Business Council voted unanimously on Thursday to remove Chair Timothy Davis from office.
The vote came after nine people, including several family members, were arrested at his home the previous week on drug-related charges when a federal warrant was executed.
Illiff “Scott” Kipp Sr. will take over as acting Chair, and elections will take place in two months.
Davis was at the meeting on Thursday and voted to remove himself from office. Davis was not charged with any crimes and was not in the home during the raid.
A state of emergency has been declared on the Reservation due to an epidemic of fentanyl overdoses.
