HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill County Commission convened on Thursday morning for their weekly business meeting and unanimously approved two resolutions and one contract.
The first resolution amended the Sheriff’s Office Narcotics K9 program budget for receipt of a $50 donation received from Havre Wal-Mart. The funds will be used for operating supplies.
The second resolution was for the receipt and disbursement of a $10,000 grant received from the BNSF Railway Foundation to the Sheriff’s Office. Funds will be used for purchasing safety equipment.
The contract that the Commission approved is with Frank Leeds Construction for a concrete outhouse to be built at the Marden Campground at Beaver Creek Park. The cost is $10,200, and work is expected to begin soon. Half of the cost is being paid for from a donation from the Marden family, while the other half will be paid for out of insurance from wind damage done to the existing outhouse.
Also at the meeting, the Commission announced that Deputy Clerk and Recorder Tina Salazar had resigned, effective March 31st. Salazar’s resignation letter said she wanted to step down in order to focus on her campaign. Salazar filed as a Democrat and is running against Deputy Clerk and Recorder Lexis Dixon for the role of Clerk and Recorder.
