HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The H. Earl Clack Museum held their monthly meeting Monday evening to discuss agenda items, including updates to the museum move from the Havre Holiday Village Mall to its downtown location at 5th avenue and US 2.
Emily Mayer, museum manager provided the museum report to the board. One concern from Mayer was the need for additional seasonal tour guides for The Wahkpa Chu’ gn Buffalo Jump and additional staff at the museum.
Mayer reported the interpretative Center is set up and ready to open soon. Also in the museum report were three separate donation suggestions from the public, including metal chandeliers with frosted glass salvaged from the 1960’s renovation of the courthouse. Mayer said they appeared to have been installed when the courthouse was build in circa 1914 and was accepted to be part of the museum collection.
Museum Foundation President Elaine Morse spoke on things needed to proceed to the next stage in the museum move on April 23rd-the possibility of expanding egress of the mall entrance to move the final museum pieces and coordinating the use of vehicles and trailers to move them. Moving non-museum items such as signage, a Glacier Park map, a stage coach and surrey, getting abatement contractors to paint outside of museum and garage doors. Morse also stated concrete work on the stairs, readying an ADA access ramp, and recruiting a crew to cleaning the mall space once the museum pieces are completely moved out.
Other agenda items covered was a discussion to update the board’s bylaws in order to add two additional members and the process needed to make the change. The board decided to present the change to the bylaw change at the next two board meetings before bringing it to the Commission. Discussion about the continuity of the Dinosaur Stamps was also discussed.
The next Museum board meeting is scheduled for May 9th at 6pm at the Best Western Havre Inn and Suites.
