RED LODGE, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Department of Transportation says the Beartooth Highway will be open from Red Lodge all the way through to Cooke City as of 5 PM on Friday.
Crews are finishing up repairs of damage caused by record flooding ahead of schedule.
Pedestrians may travel an additional six miles from Cooke City, but a temporary fix for visitors to reach the inner loop of the Park from the northeast entrance may not be done until winter.
The iconic highway has become a destination in and of itself, but vehicles are still not allowed into the northeast entrance of Yellowstone due to damage.
