Mental Illness Education in Havre

An organization in Havre is working to mitigate a major statewide issue.

Montana has one of the highest suicide rates in the country. According to data from the CDC Montana had 26.1 suicides per 100,000 people.

Havre National Alliance for Mental Illness or NAMI is providing cost free education on mental illness.

Havre NAMI founder and president Crystal Laufer explains what the goals of NAMI are.

“We would like to see Havre and surrounding areas get educated and understand that it is not something that they are making up, they live with these illnesses every day, and the family members to understand what they’re going through.”-Crystal Laufer
