A game that started off slow for the Skylights, turned into their first conference win of the season.
Montana Tech came out of the gates fast and furious going on a quick 9-0 in the first 1:54 of the game. MSUN would then fight their way back for the rest of the quarter, outscoring Montana Tech 16-8.
In the second quarter, it was a back-and-forth affair. Dani Urick of Tech came out firing from behind the 3-point line, making 2 threes in the first two minutes. Ryley Kehr and Briaunna McCullough kept the lights in the quarter, scoring 10 of the teams 12 points.
In the third, the Skylights came out as fast as they ever had in any previous third quarter. At one point, the Skylights went up by as many as nine. The Skylights hit three, three-pointers, one by Kehr, Callender and Krass, all three also ended the quarter with five points.
In the fourth quarter, MSUN went up by as many as 12, but Tech was able to fight back and get the lead down to two. By that time though, Tech had to go start fouling and the Skylights knocked down 10 of 12. Ryley Kehr would knock down both of her free throws to bring the lead back to nine with 16 seconds left, and with that, Tech was content to let the clock run out after a missed three.
The Skylights now go into the Frontier Conference tournament as the sixth seed and face a tough Rocky Mountain College in the first round starting at 3 pm on Sunday.
All Skylights and Lights action will be broadcasted on KPQX.
