The #4 Seed Montana Tech Orediggers are advancing to the quarterfinals of the 2023 NAIA Men’s Basketball Tournament. Montana Tech defeated #1 seed William Penn (Iowa) 79-78 in overtime in the round of 16.
It was a team effort for the Orediggers, with 4 players scoring 14+ points in the victory. Asa (Asia) Williams (17pts; 4asts), Camdyn Larance (14pts; 6reb), Hayden Diekhans (Dike-ans) (16pts; 3blks), and Michael Ure (19pts; 2blks) were the top performers for Montana Tech in the victory.
Montana Tech trailed by nine (33-24) at halftime, before roaring back to tie the game (71-71) at the end of regulation. Camdyn Larance hit the go-ahead free throw to secure the win with 24 seconds remaining in overtime. Michael Ure scored 16 of his 19 points in the final 9:39 of the ball game.
Montana Tech will play Ottawa University Arizona Wednesday March 15th, tip-off at 4PM.
