April is designated as Alcohol Awareness Month. Becky Schlauch, the Alcoholic Beverage Control Administrator for the Montana Department of Revenue, tells how April came to be Alcohol Awareness Month.
“April is actually National Alcohol Awareness Month and Alcohol and Beverage Control Division decided to kick off the alcohol responsibility matters campaign during the month of April to coincide with that. We’re focusing on responsibility and thought it was a great opportunity to remind Montanans to be responsible with alcohol because one bad decision can cost you for the rest of your life. It is one campaign that each week will have a different subject.”-Schaluch
With a focus on alcohol responsibility, Becky explains different approaches throughout the month intended to bring this awareness into the forefront.
“So, each week during the month of April the Alcohol and Beverage Control Division will present information and resources on creating a responsible relationship with alcohol. Whether you’re consuming it or serving it, alcohol responsibility matters. The resources include website articles and posters that people can print themselves or they can order from our website. These communications will go out for people that have signed up to receive notifications from us and they’ll be posted on our social media platforms as well. In addition, the Alcohol Beverage Control Division has created two PSAs for radio and will have five billboards across the State with the message: Alcohol Responsibility Matters. The billboards will be located in Havre, Libby, Forsyth, Butte and Great Falls.“-Schlauch
