The Havre Northstars battled the Tri-County Cardinals on Tuesday night in Havre. The bats were hitting for Havre, winning the matchup (17-8) in a game that saw the Northstars score six, four, and five runs in three different innings.
The Northstars collected 18 hits in the ball game, led by Drake Berreth who had four hits on the night including a three-singles and a double. The game started off with Havre scoring one run in the 1st & 2nd inning to take an early (2-0) lead heading into the 3rd. The Cardinals were able to tie it (2-2) before taking a (4-2) lead in the top of the 4th inning, before the Northstars offense exploded scoring six runs in the bottom of the 4th. Havre went on to score 4 runs in the 5th and five runs in the 6th, while the Cardinals tried to keep up scoring two runs each of those innings themselves.
The 13-hit day for the Cardinals would typically be enough to keep the game close or come away with the win, but the Northstars offense had other plans scoring a season high 17 runs in the ball game. Tanner Delarosa finished the game and got the win for the Northstars, lasting 2 & 2/3 innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out five. Berreth Nanini, Ezra Pyle, Terek Shipp, and Tyson Brandon all had multiple hits in the ball game.
The Northstars improve to 9-8-1 on the season and are back in action Friday when they travel for the Three Forks for the Magris Invitational going on all weekend.
