Woman Killled by Bear in Yellowstone

(West Yellowstone) – A woman was killed in an encounter with a bear July 22nd on the Buttermilk Trial near the town of West Yellowstone.

Her body was discovered by a hiker who alerted Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks game wardens of the fatality. FWP wardens and Bear specialists found that the woman had wounds consistent with a bear attack and tracks of a grizzly bear and one cub. They did not see any indicators the bears were still in the area during the investigation.
