(Chinook) – On September 1st, The Friends at the Pool and Park Foundation will hold their second annual Drool in the Pool event at the Chinook Swimming Pool. Heather Depriest the President of the Friends at the Pool and Park Foundation talks about the upcoming event.
“So on Friday, September 1st and we’re going to do our second annual Drool in the Pool event and essentially this is a event where you’re welcome to bring your dog to swim in the Chinook pool for a couple hours starts at 6:00 p.m. and it’s $10 per dog and you just have to make sure that you bring your proof of vaccination, and all dogs have to be on a leash and prior to entering the water.”
she goes on to talk about the history of the event.
“So, this is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation and we’re working towards fundraising to help pay for repairs to the Chinook pool and the Chinook Park. So it is something that we have done for the last couple years and it’s just a great time to come and watch the dogs swim in the pool and we provide tennis balls for the dogs and so there’s no need to bring any of you own toys and the dogs just have an absolute blast running and jumping into the pool chasing tennis balls.”
She also answers the question if people will be allowed to swim with their pets.
“No, no humans go on the pool. Essentially what we do is we turn off the chlorination systems in order to prevent any issues with the dogs so no humans are allowed in the pool and there will be lifeguards on duty should there be any issues with the dogs. We also have a fundraiser going on at the same time for the Chinook Lions Club. They are going to be selling Pronto pups during the event. So that should be a great time as well the Chinook Lions Club is fundraising for their skate park that their planning to put in the pool/park complex as part of the main part of the event.”
She continues by talking about the free microchip clinic that will be held.
“So, yeah, during the event pause will be doing a free microchip clinic and will also have a few other vendors for animals on site as well so come down and check out what’s happening it should be a great time to bring your fun-loving dogs to the event and we look forward to seeing everyone.”
She finished by talking about what a pronto pup is.
“Pronto pups are a corn dog essentially on a stick and they’re very famous they sell them at the Blaine County Fair every year and so the Lions Club is very well known for their Pronto pup. If you didn’t get one at the Blaine County Fair then it’s definitely something you should come down to the pool and park area and get yourself a Pronto pup it should be a lot of fun.”
