MSU-N Volleyball Results Friday 9/8-9/9

The MSU-Northern Volleyball Skylights opened up the Frontier-North Star Challenge by taking three sets from Mayville State University, (25-22, 25-21, 25-17). Josie Hasler recorded double-digit kills for the Skylights with 12, while Emily Feller led with 30 assists and also having seven kills and 11 digs. Macee Murphy had a team-high 12 digs.

The Skylights continued to be relentless against Dickinson State, putting up another sweep in the tournament, (25-16, 25-20, and 28-26). Alana Graves led the way for MSU-N with 16 kills and a .387 hitting percentage. The assist leader and digs leader stayed the same with Feller recorded 37 assists, while Murphy had a team-high 18 digs.

Saturday was a different story for the Skylights. Their winning streak was snapped by the hosts of the tournament, Valley City State University, losing in three sets, (22-25, 17-25, 24-26). MSU-N had a chance to force a fourth set after taking a (19-13) lead in the third, but the Vikings came roaring back and went on a (13-5) run to close out the match.

The team got back on track by beating the University of Winnipeg, (25-23, 25-19, and 25-16). Graves continued her pace with 11 more kills, while Feller managed 16 assists and Bailey Egan was the leader in digs with 16.

MSU-N will tune up for its final results before Frontier Conference play. The squad will head to Dillon, where Montana-Western will host the Preseason-Frontier Conference Tournament on Sept. 15 and 16. The opponents that the Skylights will face includes: Carroll College and Montana Tech on Friday, followed by the University of Providence and Rocky Mountain College on Saturday.
