Skylights Fall to MSUB in Exhibition Game in Winifred

(Winifred) The MSU Northern Skylights basketball team got on the court for the first time on Monday evening for an exhibition game in Winifred against NCAA Division 2 member Montana State University Billings. It was all MSU Billings as they won going away by a final score of 73 to 38. The Skylights were down by two after the first quarter 15 to 13 but were outscored 20 to 6 in quarter two, 21 to 10 in the third and 17 to 9 in the 4th quarter. The Skylights collected 38 rebounds in the exhibition game but shot just 11 of 49 from the floor and were just 2 of 18 from the three point line. The Skylights did make 70 percent of their free throw attempts going 14 for 20. Savannah Toms was the only Skylight in double figures, scoring ten points on 3 of 7 shooting and was 4 of 6 from the free throw line. Fort Benton’s Aspen Giese (Gey-See) had 15 points for the Yellowjackets. The Skylights will be back in action Thursday and Friday against NAIA Opponents Northwest University and Corbon University in Great Falls.
