At the 2024 Eastern ‘A’ Divisional volleyball tournament this past week, the Havre Blue Ponies were eliminated following two straight set losses to Lockwood and Laurel, respectively. New Media Broadcasters asked head coach Cassie Krueger what went wrong for her team down in Lewistown.
“Individually, (the players) had good games,” Krueger said. “We just couldn’t pull together as a team to make consistent point stretches.”
“That ended up coming back to bite us in the butt, but the girls fought hard,” Krueger continued. “You could just tell that they were very disappointed with the outcome of how it went down at divisionals.”
“I had to remind them that overall, we did have a really good season and that we were very proud of them no matter the outcome,” Krueger said.
The Ponies finished as the No. 3 seed out of the Northeast and had ups and downs throughout the 2024 campaign. Krueger best reflected on how she saw her squad after a second season of coaching high school volleyball and what she will most remember.
“The girls,” Krueger said. “This is a great team.”
“Every team that comes through is going to be unique in (its) own way,” Krueger continued. “I just really appreciate the seniors and what they brought to the program.”
“The juniors and the sophomores that made it up to varsity level offered a lot to us as well. I am looking forward to seeing them again next season,” Krueger said. “Overall (with) the program, I am very happy with how it turned out and that’s what I’m going to remember about this year.”
