CUT BANK, Mont. (NMB) – Rail Passengers Association members from five western states, along with other interested passenger rail advocates from across the country, will be holding their annual meeting at the Elks Lodge in Cut Bank on Saturday, May 18th from 11:30 AM to 5 PM.
Confirmed speakers for the event include U.S. Congressman Greg Gianforte, Havre’s State Representative Jacob Bachmeier, Missoula State Representative Andrea Olsen, along with people from BNSF and the Rail Passenger Association.
A celebration of 90 years of the Empire Builder’s continuous service between the Great Lakes and Pacific Northwest will be held during this gathering. A painting by renowned artist, J.Craig Thorpe, will depict the eastbound Empire Builder on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation west of Cut Bank, near the site of Meriwether Lewis’ Camp Disappointment.
The meeting theme will be the importance of Amtrak’s Empire Builder to the citizens of Montana and retaining daily service to multiple rural communities that rely on Amtrak.
