Havre, MT – It was the third quarter for the MSU-Northern Skylights that looked like the deciding factor in both their win on Friday and their loss on Saturday.
Head coach of the Skylights Chris Mouat knows when and things wet so right and then so wrong for his team in the two games.
“We shot it really well in the third quarter. We were able to come back from 10 or 11 down. In the third quarter we made a bunch of threes and guarded really well and maintained it in the fourth.”
Friday the Skylight led coming out halftime by just one 23-22 before emphatically turning things around by putting up 26 points in the third while holding Montana Western to just nine points to command an 18 point lead to start the fourth quarter. The Skylights shot 10-17 from the field and 6 of 10 from behind the three point in quarter number three that helped them secure the victory.
It was the opposite 3rd quarter performance for the Skylights in Butte against Montana Tech where they shot a damaging 3-16 from the floor and 2-8 from behind the three point line.
“I think they defended really well. we were getting a lot of offensive rebounds, I think we had 18 for the game, we just weren’t converting on them. and on the other end they had a hot quarter.”
The Skylights will look to stay consistent this weekend hosting Carroll and Rocky Mountain college on Friday and Saturday.
