Rencurel Sentenced to 80 for Deliberate Homicide

(NMB) Monday in District Court in Havre, Cody Rencurel was sentenced to 80 years in the Montana State Prison for the deliberate homicide of Dixie Schroeder.

Rencurel who originally pled not guilty, changed his plea to guilty in January of this year. On May 7th, 2025 Havre Police officers responded to the 300 block of 14th

avenue and found Schroeder dead on scene. Havre PD and the Hill County Sheriff’s Office investigated the scene, with investigative help from the Montana Division

of Criminal Investigation, suspected foul play and determined that Rencurel was a person of interest, had Schroeder’s car and fled to the Coeur d’Alene Idaho area.

He was taken into custody on May 8th, 2025. District Judge Kaydee Snipes Ruiz presided over the proceedings.
