Havre Northstars Take Care of Medicine Hat in First Game of District Tournament

Great Falls, MT – The top-seeded Havre Northstars opened the Class A North District Tournament in dominant fashion Thursday, rolling past the Medicine Hat Knights 11-1 in five innings to advance to the next round.

Havre’s offense was powered by Quinn Elliot, who drove in five runs on two hits, including an extra-base hit. After a steady start that saw the Northstars score one run in each of the first three innings, Havre broke the game wide open with a six-run fourth inning to build a commanding 9-0 lead.

The Northstars added two more runs in the fifth to end the game by the mercy rule. Elliot delivered the final blow with a two-run single to left field, sealing the 11-1 victory.

On the mound, Kaden Wall turned in a complete-game performance, allowing just two hits and one unearned run while striking out seven to earn the win.

With the victory, Havre advances to face the Tri-County Cardinals in game 7 Friday at 4 p.m. The Northstars swept the Cardinals during the regular season, posting a 4-0 record while outscoring Tri-County 44-14.
