Havre, MT – Montana State University-Northern Lights football is less than one week away from the start of fall camp with head coach Jerome Souers heading into his fifth season at the helm.
The Lights will begin practicing for an 11-game season on Monday August 3. Back in May coach Souers said Northern football had a productive winter strength program saying, “Most everybody had PRs in the weight room which was exciting to see.”
Entering into his second season as Defensive Coordinator, Dylan Wampler brings back multiple key linebackers. The first is Crawford Terry who finished the season with 51 total tackles.
The second is senior Brayden Cline who led the Lights in tackles last season with 119 and was named to the Frontier Conference Second Team All-Defense.
Northern football added a new offensive coordinator in Coach K and everyone around the program has felt the new energy he has brought not only to the offense but to the locker room as well.
The Lights offense lost a lot of production but return wide receiver Colter Woldstad and sophomore quarterback Ethan Maroni who showed growth in the last five games of the year.
The offense may be the biggest question heading into the season as look to improve on one win a year ago.
Northern football opens on the road at Carroll College Thursday August 27, with kickoff at 6 p.m.
