Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks (FWP) met with their citizens advisory council in Havre on Tuesday.
Drew Henry the Region 6 Supervisor for FWP explains the citizens advisory council meeting.
“The goal of the citizens advisory council is really they act as a sounding board for Fish, Wildlife, and Parks. So, our council is made up of members of the community. They could be farmers, ranchers, or business owners, outfitters, commissioners, and we try to get a diversity of folks on our council. They come together and they meet with us, and there is a two-pronged approach. One, they bring the issues that they’re hearing in their communities to us, so whether it’s related to FWP they bring those to us in order to represent them on behalf of their communities, and two we bring information relative to the things that we’re doing as an agency to them so that they can go back to their communities and better inform folks as well.”-Drew Henry
Tuesday’s meeting was different. Tuesdays meeting incorporated members of the Montana legislature, so they could hear and understand the issues that FWP is having, and then address them in the upcoming legislative session.
