GREAT FALLS, Mont. (NMB) – The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the production and placement of two homemade destructive devices in Great Falls.
On July 4th, ATF, Great Falls Police, and the U.S. Air Force Explosives Ordinance Disposal Unit Responded to the 2000 block of 9th Avenue South to investigate a homeowner’s discovery of two suspected homemade pipe bombs in their residential backyard while mowing the lawn.
The pipe bombs were made of metal pipe containing nuts, screws, bolts and other shrapnel, and were wrapped in cellophane with an exposed fuse.
Neither device detonated and no one was injured.
It is believed the devices were placed sometime between mid-June and July 4th.
