LEWISTOWN, Mont. (NMB) – The Montana Highway Patrol reports that a 42-year-old Billings man was killed in a three vehicle crash in Fergus County on Saturday afternoon.
The crash occurred at 3:52 PM at mile marker 83 of US 87 near Lewistown, when the Billings man was driving a Buick Lesabre westbound when it drifted into the oncoming lane.
A Ford Expedition being driven by a 34-year-old Lewistown woman and a Ram 3500 being driven by a 69-year-old Grass Range man were traveling eastbound at the time. The driver of the Ford tried to evade the Buick by swerving into the westbound lane. The Buick struck the side of the Ford and continued traveling westbound in the eastbound lane, striking the Ram head on.
The driver of the Buick was not wearing a seatbelt pronounced deceased on scene. The drivers of the Ford and Ram were wearing seatbelts, and were transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
Drugs and excessive speed are considered suspected factors in the crash. The road was bare and dry.
