The Havre Blue Ponies Boy Basketball Team is also set to begin their Eastern “A” Divisional Journey this week in Billings. The Blue Ponies finished the season 12-6 overall and winning 7 of their final 9 games.
With the big tournament set to begin Thursday, here’s what Head Coach Waylyn Burgess had to say about his team’s current mindset:
“It’s time to go, we’ve kind of been waiting around. We’re excited to get down to the Metra, watch the girls then we play on Thursday.”- Burgess
Havre’s first round matchup will be against Billings Central, a team they played back in December for their 2nd game of the regular season. The Blue Ponies lost a close (58-49) game in the matchup, but Coach Burgess expects both teams to be drastically different:
” Yeah for sure. You’re still trying to figure out your rotations, who can play and who can’t play. You got a bunch of different variables and what not. I think we’re probably the best we can possibly be, I think we have figured some things out. I mean you turn around and look at them and they’ve only lost 3 games in conference.” -Burgess
