Havre, MT – Friday in Butte Havre Softball concluded their regular season with a pair of losses to Laurel and Polson.
The Blue Ponies opened Friday afternoon against the Laurel Locomotives, where after one inning Havre trailed 3-1. Laurel would score two runs in the third and five runs in the fourth to hold a 10-1 lead before Havre nocked in three runs to end the fifth inning and the game with Locomotives claiming the 10-4 win. Havre totaled nine hits led by Riley Doney with two.
The Blue Ponies fared better in the second game. Polson got out to hot start taking a 6-0 lead after two innings. Havre fought back scoring four combined runs in the third and fourth. Polson drove home a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to hold a 9-4 lead heading into the bottom of the fifth.
Havre’s two runs in the fifth weren’t enough. Polson secured the 9-6 victory. Alorah Moore pitched all five innings and threw two strikeouts. Olivia Keller and Bree Hanson led the team in hits with two each.
Next up Havre will host a state play in game this Friday, May 22, with opponent to be determined.
