Havre, MT – Stats Perform announced on Thursday the preseason watch list for the FCS defensive player of the year award also known as the the Buchanan Award. Bobcat defensive tackle, Paul Brott and Grizzly linebacker Peyton Wing were selected watch list.
Paul Brott of the Montana State defensive line is a preseason All-big Sky and All-American selection. The senior and native of billings was All-Big Sky second team in 2024, recording 49 total, six tackles for loss with three sacks. Brott is looking to become the third Bobcat to win the award and the first since 2013.
Peyton Wing, the Junior linebacker hailing from Summer Washington and transfer from Portland State University was also selected to the watch list after a breakout season for the Vikings in 2024. Wing, like Brott, was also selected to preseason All-Big Sky and All-American teams.
At PSU Wing secured 93 tackles to lead the team including 7.5 tackles for loss. In 2024 Wing was named Big Sky All-Conference second team and College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors.
Brott and Wing are just two of 30 watch list selections throughout the FCS.
