HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – A Box Elder man who led authorities on a high-speed vehicle pursuit in Hill County in April 2017 is back in prison after being accused of violating the conditions of his release.
Darren Johnson, born in 1976, was given a deferred sentence of 36 months after being convicted of felony criminal endangerment in 2018.
Court documents say Johnson led authorities on a high-speed pursuit after stealing gas from a Zip Trip and traveled over 80 miles an hour in Havre city limits and over 110 miles an hour on the Beaver Creek Highway. The vehicle eventually crashed in a creek and Johnson was apprehended after attempting to run away.
Johnson is accused of violating his release by using methamphetamine, marijuana and alcohol. These violations are all alleged to have occurred since he quit the Billings Prerelease Center in November 2019.
Johnson is scheduled to appear in Hill County District Court on Monday morning. He remains in the Hill County Detention Center on $30,000 bond.
