Havre, MT – Late Tuesday afternoon Havre High softball welcomed the Golden Eagles of Lewistown. It was the first game of the season for Lewistown and Havre entered their first home game with a 1-1 record. The young Blue Ponies fought hard but fell 26-9 after giving up 10 runs in the top of the sixth inning.
Havre started well trailing by just a single run (4-3) at the end of the first inning. After that it was all Golden Eagles outscoring Havre 12-6 over the next four innings. At the end of five Lewistown lead Havre 16-9 before rattling off 10 runs in the sixth to close the game.
Riley Doney and Kenzi Harwood led Havre in runs with three each. Doney also lead the team in hits with 3. Eight different Ponies knocked in an RBI. Olivia Keller and Alaura Moore each gave up six hits on the mound. Keller threw three strikeouts and Moore had one.
Next up the Blue Ponies will be at Sidney on Friday April 10, at 3p.m. before returning home for another battle on Saturday with Miles City at 3p.m.
