HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Next week is National Health Center Week, and Bullhook Community Health Center has a full slate of events to mark the occasion.
CEO Kyndra Hall says that next Saturday will mark the return of their 5k and one mile Color Fun Run/Walk.
“This year we’ll have many of the same elements (as previous years) with colored corn starch being thrown at you and the initial throw up in the beginning of the run. We’ll continue to have both the 5k and 1 mile run/walk. We will have food afterwards, but we’ll be serving it to the participants. And then we’ll have the tables and chairs socially distant and spaced out so we can still comply with those COVID regulations. So we are really excited, we have a great team planning it and getting it organized, and they are very energetic and excited to have the event back this year.”
Pre-registration has been extended through August 9th, and is $40 for those 12 and older and $30 for those ages 4-11. Registration will also be available starting at 9 AM on the morning of the event, albeit with an increased fee of $45. The race begins at 10 AM.
Money raised from the Color Run goes towards funding the event, with left over funds sent over to the Snacks for ‘Scrips Program run through Bullhook’s pharmacy.
“It’s for patients that can’t always afford their medications. It helps pay for their medications so they can continue to get them when they need them.”
Hall says along with the Run/Walk, there are several other actions Bullhook is taking to recognize National Health Center Week.
“It’s just that annual celebration with raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of community health centers over the past five decades around the nation…We’ll be doing Johnson and Johnson COVID vaccinations all week long. Discounted sports physicals for those kiddos getting ready to go back to school and joining fall sports. Kids 12 and under can come in for a free fluoride treatment. We’ll also have a candy guessing game going all week and a coloring contest. And then on Wednesday, August 8th we’ll be celebrating patient appreciation with some giveaways in our lobby.”
