WASHINGTON, D.C. (NMB) – The Bureau of Land Management has announced the filing of Notice of Intent in the Federal Register to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement to consider proposed revisions to their grazing regulations.
The BLM says these new regulations will update, modernize and streamline grazing regulations and provide greater flexibility for land and resource management.
Organizations including the Public Lands Council have come out in favor of these changes, viewing it as common-sense reform.
However, these proposed regulation changes are opposed by groups including the Western Watershed Project, who say that the BLM is putting the interests of cattle ranchers over environmental concerns.
Four public meetings are scheduled throughout the western U.S. to further inform the public of this project. The meeting in Montana will be held at the Sleep Inn and Suites in Miles City on February 6 from 4:30 to 7:30 PM.
