Butte Star arrested on drug charges

(Butte) The Mining City was in for a surprise last week as a public figure from its flagship university was arrested on felony drug charges.

Nicholas Kelly Bowsher of Butte is in custody after police arrested him on accusations of illicit drug possession and distribution at a residence on West Gold Street near the Montana Tech campus.

According to court documents, a total of nine felonies and one misdemeanor have been waged against Bowsher for possession of drugs like meth and crack cocaine, and for intent to distribute MDMA, LSD, ketamine, and other illegal substances.

Bond has been at $500,000. If convicted of any charge, Bowsher could face up to 20 years in state prison or fines of up to $50,000.
