Chinook Basketball Ready For Trip South

Sugarbeeter basketball is still on the road to begin the week, rematching with Fort Benton. The boys’ lost to the Longhorns back on Dec. 19, (64-43). Beeter boys’ coach Bill Bell said the last results, which were a close lost to C-J-I and a huge road win at Conrad will provide a spark that can be taken into this game.

“I think continuing to improve on the way we’ve been playing these last few weeks and cleaning up a few things on the offensive and defensive end, including getting some rebounds we should have otherwise had,” Bell said. “I think we’ll be more competitive in this game going forward.”

The Chinook girls’ were staunch defensively, holding the Lady Longhorns to just 37 points in the last matchup. Coach Mike Seymour said that his team has been working on defensive drills all week in order to replicate the success of the last matchup.

“Defense has been our staple for quite a few years and that’s something that we’ll continue to focus on,” Seymour said. “We’ve been working hard this week defensively on our on-ball pressure and our help side (defense) and blocking out.”

“Those are things we’ll try and take into the game, keeping our energy up, our effort up, and of course, always our attitude,” Seymour continued. “Defense is an attitude.”

The Beeter boys (3-7) will be away at Fort Benton on Thursday night around 6pm. The Beeter girls’ (8-2) take the floor around 7:30pm.
