Both Chinook teams earned a berth at upcoming the Northern B Divisional tournaments.
For the boys, facing elimination against Rocky Boy Saturday morning, the Beeters came back from trailing by 8 points at the end of one, to a back and forth effort midway through the fourth quarter. A few breaks toward the end of the contest allowed Chinook to come away with a 69-67 victory, and lock in a trip to divisionals.
Later Saturday evening, the boys took on Shelby for consolation action. Shelby was able to keep the Beeters at bay, to claim a 70-54 win.
Right after that, the Lady Sugarbeeters took to the court to face Fairfield, who gave Chinook their closest contested victory during the regular conference season. In a close battle throughout, Fairfield managed to upend the Lady Beeters for their first loss in 2023-24, 42-39.
Moving forward, the Chinook Boys will head to Malta and the Northern B Divisional tournament against the hometown Mustangs beginning Thursday.
The following week, the Lady Beeters will head for their divisional bid in Conrad February 29th through March 2nd. They will start the tournament off against the number three seed from district 2B.
