Chinook Football Falls To Shelby Saturday

The Chinook Sugarbeeters football team came off of its bye week with a (30-20) defeat at Shelby.

Shelby got the scoring started in the first quarter on a Hayden Schilling 6-yard touchdown run with a missed extra point. The Sugarbeeters countered and Landen Beck got in with a 6-yard rush of his own. The teams would trade touchdowns in the second quarter as well and Beck was able to dive to the end zone again after the Coyotes had scored again. The game went to the half tied at 14.

Chinook started off the third quarter strong, taking up almost eight minutes and going 65 yards down the field. Ryan Bell found Oliver Standiford for a touchdown grab and the Beeters led (20-14).

After no scoring for the end of the quarter, the Coyotes answered on Schilling’s third touchdown of the game and his second one from 18 yards out. He also converted on the extra point and Shelby took a (22-20) lead. Schilling ran for a 34-yard touchdown later in the quarter and he converted the extra point again.

Chinook will try to rebound and get its first win of the season when they host Harlem on Thursday, September 14th. That game can be heard on 101.3 FM-KRYK with Noah Friedman on the call.
