Chinook athlete Jackson Nordboe recently signed with the MSU-Northern Lights basketball team. The Sugarbeeters standout will join the program this fall as the team is overhaul its current roster to improve on the (11-18) 2023-24 campaign. Nordboe spoke exclusively with New Media Broadcasters about the decision to join MSU-N basketball and expanded on his story of being born to play for the Lights because of his family connections.
“It’s meant a lot. Northern and coach (Shawn) Huse have always been a pretty big part of my basketball career,” Nordboe said. “I grew up watching my aunt play basketball there and another aunt playing volleyball as well.”
“I hear stories all the time of (MSU-Northern Skylights) coach (Chris) Mouat holding me at the open gym practices (when I was little),” Nordboe continued. “I always went to the summer league and MSU-Northern Lights basketball camps because my grandma lives right there and it was just a good way to play basketball in the summer.”
Nordboe measures up at 6-foot-4 and can play at any length of the court on both sides of the ball. He said he is ready to get to work and try and develop a collegiate profile, but shared that through it all that he is a team player for what he hopes he can be as a Light.
“I think it’ll be good to get around those college guys and get a few practices in,” Nordboe said. “I think that my defense can be a pretty good part (as well as) rebounding and all that.”
“I’m pretty much just a team player and I’m excited to see what coach Huse has for me there,” Nordboe continued.”
